CALL TO ARMS MESSAGE

JRA managed to achieve quite a bit during 2010.   And with the impact of the Brisbane River Floods, the start to 2011 was hectic for our community.  JRA participated in recovery efforts and then went and then straight into preparations for this year’s Clean Up Australia Day projects (two sites were earmarked for clean-up), which took place 5-6 March, 2011.  There are a couple of other projects that we would like to carry out this year, and the Executive Committee needs your help! Last year JRA lost several key Executive people through illness and automatic resignation through moving out of the Jamboree Precinct.  Consequently, the Executive Committee has been reduced to three people, who have had to take on multiple roles to ensure the work gets done and JRA remains a compliant Association.  When the Committee is at full strength, the time required to complete tasks/duties is easily managed.  It also means that there is a broader range of ideas and diverse perspectives. Please consider becoming involved, in particular, by nominating for any of the following positions:

  • Secretary;
  • Treasurer;
  • Vice President; and
  • Being part of a pool of Events Committee people for a range of tasks that include –
    • planting & gardening, and Stage 2 of planting & maintenance of the Andaman Strip;
    • help with the catering for out-door events;
    • assisting with the Centenary Bikeway “Adopt-a-Road” scheme;
    • flyer and newsletter droppers.

 Nominations are now open for all Executive Committee positions.  Apologies and proxies can also be received. Nominations can also be taken from the floor at the meeting.  For more information, and/ or to receive JRA Executive Committee job descriptions and time involvement, please contact one of the following:

  • Wayne            3279 0744
  • Andrea            3376 0771
  • Bruce              3376 1183

You might have some new ideas that will benefit our Suburb – let’s hear about them. 2011 Annual Membership Fee ($10) due the date of AGM.  Can pay, online (see Membership section), contact Andrea for a brochure/application, or pay in person at the meeting.Look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at the AGM.
