SAFETY ALERT

Attempted Break and Enters and disturbances.

 

 

 

Once again there is a spate of incidents involving attempted break and entries into Jamboree Height’s residences and street disturbances this time in the lower Andaman Street region.  Police have been called on three separate occasions that the JRA Executive have been informed of since the 26 February, 2012.

 

Once again two of these attempts have been made in the early hours while residents were at home, but these attempts don’t appear to be of the same magnitude of previous events in early to middle 2011.

 

There has also been an incident at night involving a number of youth down around the bikeway ramp.  This is near the Andaman Street entry to Mt Ommaney Shopping Centre, and it is well known that this bikeway access, which enables access through Jamboree Heights and adjoining suburbs.  This area is often frequented by mischief-makers as it is isolated and not on regular Police patrol routes.

 

Things You Can Do:

 

·        Please pass this message onto your neighbours, friends and local businesses, increase security procedures and don’t hesitate to call the Police with any suspicion or evidence of trouble on 131-444 (PoliceLink). 

 

·         If an incident is in progress, keep to a safe distance or get to a neighbour and call 000.

 

·         Listen to your instincts - to ignore a suspicion could lead to you or a neighbour being harmed.

 

·         Check your home and yard security (e.g. ensure lights and sensors are working, windows & doors can be locked effectively).

 

·         With holidays coming up, remember your normal precautions – put hold on mail and deliveries (unless a neighbour can take these on).  Let people know of your absence and ask them to keep an eye on things.
