EVENT ROUND-UP: "Tribute to the Older Generation"  This Event got off to a great start with the attendance of over 80 senior residents, their friends, family, and carers. This included the twelve residents, and their carers, from Tri Care. We appreciate the effort made by all. JRA and Westside Church of Christ volunteers wandered to and fro making sure everyone could partake of the many morning tea contibutions, set out in the outdoor courtyard. As the morning still had a chill in the air, hot drinks flowed freely. The majority of the morning tea was provided by the Westside Church congregation with JRA members contributing home-made cakes to the fair.  Inside, selected activity groups from the Centenary suburbs; Councillor Matthew Bourke; Mrs Julie Attwood; and Mr Bernie Ripoll had set up meet and greet information/display booths. Everything from sample bags to contact details was on offer. I must mention the historical photos of the area were facinating (especially an overhead of the 1974 floods). The assistance of all the Contributors was impressive and JRA would like to thank them all whole-heartedly!  As anticipated, the program ran a bit over time with many last-minute alterations. Our MC, Kerry Schulz, did a magnificent job juggling the music segment is with our eight guest speakers. JRA's 82-year-old trumpeter, Bobby McGee, matched with the best. Evergreen Hayden Sergeant's themed talk on, "It's Never Too Late" was warmly received.  ![]() Our three politicians gave a brief outline on how they assist the elderly in all fields of need -- a difficult task for them in such a limited time allocation. We have been thrilled by the positive feedback received from the attendees, their carers, friends and family.    With a huge Thank You to the Event Contibutors:
Look out for future events and projects. |
